Description

A lot of lost balls don't come from a bad pass, but from what you do right after receiving.

Receiving, tempo, carrying and shielding. What happens between the ball reaching you and you deciding what to do with it — where more possession is lost than anyone admits.

What you will learn

  • Angle your first touch based on where the pressure comes from and what you want to do next.
  • Receive, settle and only then speed up, instead of speeding up on autopilot.
  • Dribble to pin a defender, open an angle or draw in the press.
  • Shield the ball with your back to goal and decide when to try to turn.
  • Apply it in three common situations: receiving under pressure, with space and back to goal.

Who it is for

For players who lose the ball right after controlling it, or play everything at top speed.

When to use it

Every time you receive, especially between the lines and with your back to goal and a defender on you.
