The 3 phases of play in FC 27
Description
Fixes two common problems: reaching the final third with one or two isolated strikers against four defenders, and losing the ball in your own build-up.
Daniel Aguilar breaks down attacking build-up into three phases, what each one is for and why the third depends on the first two. The starting point of the framework: without it, everything that follows is just isolated tricks. Some execution details shown in the video (for example, the type of pass from midfield) may have changed since FC 26; what still fully applies in FC 27 is the 3-phase system. The game rewards sending plenty of players forward, and that gets combined later with more advanced tools like directional runs and calls for the ball.
What you will learn
- Split the build-up into three phases and what each one is for.
- Which pass to use in phase 1 so your back four keeps its shape, and which one to avoid.
- How to get your midfielders, CAM and wingers arriving at speed in phase 2.
- Why you shouldn't play into the zone of the player you've just sent running, and build through another one instead.
- Linking the three phases together in real match situations.
Who it is for
For any player who wants an organised way to attack. It's the starting point of the PMB framework: watch it before the rest of the series.
When to use it
Every time you play out from the back, especially if you often lose the ball there or arrive in the box with too few players.
